We consider migratory movements and their consequences to be part of our everyday lives and social structures. We aim for a deeper understanding about current processes of international migration and mobilities, and the consequences they have, mutually influencing each other, (re)producing inequalities and generating new dynamics. In our current interdisciplinary student extension programme “Migration Studies” we offer courses on various themes for our international students. Our courses focus for instance on international labour migration and the mobility of (highly) skilled and less-skilled workers, on global migration dynamics and migration history, on refugee dynamics and forced migration on populism, racism and nationalism, on gender sexualities and diversity as well as on religion, culture, literature, education, communication, and mobilities. Currently, students can select from a broad range of courses and have to fulfil 24 ECTS credits to get a certificate. We are currently preparing the existing Study Extension Programme to expand, in order to create a full-fledged, interdisciplinary Master Programme, ranging from sociology, political science, communication studies, social geography, pedagogy, to theology and musicology.
